bronchodilatory activity of vitis vinifera leaf hydroalcoholic extract in rat
نویسندگان
چکیده
several reports have shown the various effects of grape (vitis vinifera) seed extract such as antioxidant, hypotensive, hypolipidemic and vasodilatory effects. the aim of present study was to investigate the effect of grape leaf hydroalcoholic extract on isolated rat tracheal contractions induced by kcl and acetylcholine. the trachea was removed from male adult sprague-dawley rat and placed in an organ bath containing krebs-henseleit solution and contractions were recorded isometrically. the results demonstrate that the grape leaf extract at 0.5, 1, 2, 4 and 8 mg/ml significantly reduces the tracheal contractions induced by kcl (60 mm) dose-dependently (p<0.0001). acetylcholine (55 µm)induced tracheal contractions were also attenuated at the same concentration of the extract (p<0.0001). the grape leaf extract induced relaxation in the kcl-induced contraction in trachea was unaffected neither by nitric oxide (no) synthase inhibitor (l-name, 100 µm) nor by betaadrenoceptor antagonist (propranolol 1 µm). our results suggest that the bronchodilatory effect of grape leaf extract is mediated via the voltage dependent calcium channels. furthermore, the betaadrenergic and no are not involved.

Although leaf of Vitis vinifera (Vitaceae) has been used in traditional medicine to treat diarrhea, but no clinical and experimental studies have been conducted on its effects on the uterus. It has previously been reported that Vitis vinifera leaf extract reduces the ileum contractions induced by KCl and acetylcholine. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of Vitis vinifera...
متن کاملRat vas deferens relaxation induced by Vitis vinifera leaf extract
The relaxatory effect of Vitis vinifera leaf extract on rat uterus has been reported and it was postulated that, the extract relaxed through the blockade of voltage dependent calcium channels. The extract also, relaxed rat aorta through NO and was dependent on the functional endothelium. In the present study, the effect of Vitis vinifera hydroalcoholic leaf extract (VHLE) on rat vas deferens pr...

متن کاملStudy on mechanism of vasorelaxatory effect of Vitis vinifera leaf extract in rat aorta
Introduction: Our previous studies showed that hydroalcoholic extract of leaf of Vitis vinifera relaxes the phenylephrine-induced contraction in rat thoracic aorta. This effect was dependent on endothelial integrity and NO-cGMP system. The vasorelaxant effect of extract was much lesser on KCl-induced contraction. We, therefore, postulated that K+ channels are involved. The main aim of the pr...

introduction: many reports have shown that the grape (vitis vinifera) seed extract induces antioxidant, hypotensive hypolipidemic, and vasodilatory effects. we have recently shown the relaxatory effect of grape leaf extract on rat's aorta, ileum, uterus and frog's heart rate and contractility. the objective of this study was to investigate the spasmolytic effect of vitis vinifera leaf hydroalco...
